Mr. Allen, a native of Burke County, had retired as a mail carrier. He had lived in Richmond County most of his life and was a member of Berlin United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include a daughter, Vonnie Jeanette Tinley, Hephzibah, and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Berlin United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
