  • Charles Kincaid McMorris was born on 5 March 1835 in Lafayette, Chambers County, Alabama.
  • Charles Kincaid McMorris appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Wetumpka PO, Coosa County, Alabama, identified as a merchant's clerk, and living together with four other young men of the same occupation and one a bookkeeper. They were enumerated only a few households from Charles' father's step-son William Augustus Thrasher.

  • The following appeared on 7 December 1912 in The Montgomery Advertiser: (Wetumpka, Ala., Dec. 4) Charles K. McMorris, county treasurer of Elmore county, and one of the oldest and best known ciizens of the county died this afternoon about 2 o'clock. He had been sick for the past two months with typhoid fever and pneumonia. He was born in 1835, in Lafayette, Ala., and had passed his seventy-seventh birthday. He was married to Miss Bettie Kavanaugh in 1866, and leaves his wife, and five children, S. J. McMorris, postmaster of Wetumpka, C. G. and B. K. McMorris, Mrs. Louis G. Johnson and Mrs. F. B. McCaskey.
         Mr. McMorris served four years in the Confederate army in Co. I, 3rd Alabama. He was twice badly wounded, being at one time carried off the field with Colonel Tennent Lomax, both being wounded.
    [:TAB: He was prominent in public life in this county for many years, having been sheriff of the county and afterward county treasurer for a period of twenty years. He was re-elected at a recent election for a period of four years.
         Funeral services will be held at his residence in Wetumpka on Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock.
