- The following appeared on 11 August 1941 in The Montgomery Advertiser: F. V. Merriwether, 78, of 433 Finley Avenue, died in a Macon, Ga., hospital early Sunday. He had been ill for several months. His body will arrive in Montgomery at 10 a.m. Monday, and funeral services will be held from the home Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dan C. Whitsett, pastor of St. Mark's Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ramer Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, two sons, Dr. F. V. Merriwether, Jr., Cleveland, Ohio, and Dr. W. W. Merriwether, Macon, Ga; two daughters, Misses Mabel and Julia Merriwether, of Montgomery. White Chapel in charge.
