Warren received his business degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from the University of Houston School of Law. He served as city attorney in Navasota from 1967-1969 and as district attorney of the 12th District from 1969 to 1972. He served as judge of the 12th District Court from 1972 until 1979. In 1979 Warren became a justice on the 1st Court of Appeals in Houston and served on that court until his death.
