- Moses Davis and Emily Amanda Baldwin appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Coldspring, Polk County, Texas, enumerated next to Amanda's brother James, with whom their mother and two nephews are living.. Other members of the household included Joseph William Davis, Amanda Baldwin Davis. Also in the household was overseer Jonathan Baxter and one farm worker.
- The following appeared on 24 March 1886 in The Galveston Daily News: (Waco, March 23) Mrs. Amanda Davis, a venerable and universally beloved lady, died this morning at the residence of Dr. J. S. Willis. Her sons, Colonel Wm. B. Denson, of Galveston, and Mr. Joe. Davis, of Dayton, Tex., reached here on Sunday. Her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Willis, and her husband were telegraphed to in California, but can not reach here.
