Benjamin Lewis Landrum

  • Benjamin Lewis Landrum was born on 5 December 1818 in Edgefield District, South Carolina.
  • He married Charity Elizabeth Park, daughter of Andrew Park and Jane Little, on 24 August 1847 in Montgomery County, Texas.
  • In February 1850 Benjamin Landrum sold 130 acres in the Joseph Lindley Survey to Green Wood, and moved to Montgomery County, Alabama.
  • Green Wood purchased from B. L. & E. Landrum 130 acres in the John Saddler Survey for $400, general warranty deed dated 20 February 1850, recorded in Montgomery County, Texas, 20 March 1850.
  • Benjamin Lewis Landrum became a widower at the circa 1867 death of his wife Charity Elizabeth Park.
  • Benjamin Lewis Landrum died on 2 September 1899 at age 80 in Falls County, Texas.

    Dr. Benjamin L. Landrum, the son of George L. Landrum, was born in Edgefield District, South Carolina, on 5 December 1818. He moved with his parents to Georgia and then to Henry County, Alabama. He studied medicine at Philadelphia Medical College, graduating in 1841. He moved to Montgomery County, Texas, and by 1846 he owned one slave worth $50 and no other property. There he engaged in medical practice; he married Mrs. Elizabeth (Park) Page on24 August 1847. He was mentioned as being in practice in Danville in an 1849 letter written by George Spiller. In February 1850, he sold 130 acres to Green Wood and moved to Montgomery County, Alabama, and then to Lowndes County, where Elizabeth died in 1867. He then moved to Falls County, Texas, in 1868. He also practiced in Madison County and Austin County, where he married Miss Phereby Lee on 21 May 1879. She was the daughter of Alexander and Susanna Lee of Johnston County, North Carolina. Dr. Landrum and wife returned to Falls County, where he lived until his death on 2 September 1899.
