  • She married William Allen Pegues, son of Claudius M. Pegues and Harriet Powe Chapman, on 21 March 1849 in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. William Allen Pegues was the son of Claudius, who was the eldest brother of Elizabeth's mother's second husband John S. Pegues and her sister Mary Frances' husband Charles Stuart Pegues. They had at least five children who did not survive to adulthood, all buried in the Pegues-Stephenson cemetery, and a daughter Harriet who married J. L. McClanahan but has no living descendants..
