  • Preston James Rogers was born on 23 September 1897 in South Carolina.
  • The following appeared on 9 July 1904 in The Pee Dee Advocate: Annie Preston Drake, only child of Mr. Preston C. and Mrs. Jincy C. Drake, was born October 5, 1869. Her father died when she was 10 months old. On Dec. 23, 1896, she married Mr. John Irby Rogers at the home of her uncle, Col. J. N. Drake. They had one child, little Preston. Annie died May 9, 1904. Mrs. Napier who died last August was her aunt.

  • John Irby Rogers and Harriet Threadgill Harrington appeared in the US federal census of 1 January 1920 in Red Hill Township, Marlboro County, South Carolina. Other members of the household included Preston James Rogers, John Irby Rogers Jr. and Julia Harrington Rogers.
  • He married Rebecca Pegues, daughter of Edmond Waddill Pegues and Nannie Seay Pollock, circa 1921, probably having made her acquaintance through Preston's father's second wife Harriet Threadgill Harrington, who was the daughter of Rebecca's mother's half-brother James Auld Harrington.
  • Nannie Seay Pollock appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at 1224 31st Street. Other members of the household included Preston James Rogers, Rebecca Pegues.
  • He was a bookkeeper, according to the 1930 census.
