  • The following appeared on 26 March 1960 in The Greensboro Record: Miss Elizabeth G. Evans, Country Club Apts., has received word of the death of her brother, Josiah J. Evans, about 75, of Bennettsville, S.C., who died at his home of a heart attack yesterday. Mr. Evans for many years was a member of the South Carolina Legislature and was a former mayor of Bennettsville. Miss Evans and her niece, Mrs. Randolph E. Morrisett, 203 Country Club Dr., left today for Bennettsville, where funeral will be held Sunday.
  • The following appeared in a local newspaper: (Bennettsville) Funeral services for Josiah J. Evans, 75, former mayor of Bennettsville, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from Whitner Funeral Home by the Rev. N. K. Polk and the Rev. R. C. Baird. Interment will be in old St. David's Cemetery in Cheraw.
         Mr. Evans, who also served terms in both the State Senate and House of Representatives among other political offices, died Friday afternoon after a week of illness.
         Survivors include the widow, a daughter and three sisters.
