  • Robert Middleton Tate was born on 22 October 1807 in Elbert County, Georgia.
  • He married Eliza Ware Coleman, daughter of John Coleman and Elizabeth Ware, on 31 August 1847 in Dallas County, Alabama.
  • Robert Middleton Tate and Eliza Ware Coleman appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Pences, Dallas County, Alabama, and also overseer J. T. Hines, age 21.. Other members of the household included Charles H. Tate and Charles Coleman Tate.
  • On Sunday, 7 November 1852, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Mr Calhoun, two Mr Taits, Doctor Ware & James Ware all from Perry & Dallas Countys Alabama to Dinner to day & spent the night."
         Robert Middleton Tate was the husband of Robert Ware's first cousin Eliza Ware Coleman's daughter Eliza, and Charles was Robert's brother. Green sold his first Montgomery, Alabama, plantation to Robert Ware; James was Robert's son. Robert Ware's bother Young Stokes Ware was married to Green's niece Martha Mitchell, daughter of Green's sister Mary Wood Mitchell. Mr. Calhoun has yet to be identified.
