    [TAB:] Sunday, friends and relatives will gather at 2 p.m. at Autumn Hills in Conroe, where she now resides, to celebrate a life that pre-dates the introduction of automobiles, plane flights and television.
    [TAB:] She remembers her first TV:
    [TAB:] "We had the first ones that came to Navasota."
    [TAB:] Wood, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Florence Lockhart Madeley, was born on Sept. 16, 1887, at the Lockhart home in Montgomery, though the Madeley family home was in Navasota. Her father owned a livery stable, giving her plenty of opportunities to ride horses and enjoy the country life.
    [TAB:] She graduated from high school in Navasota and married Langston Goree Wood in the Methodist church in their hometown.
    [TAB:] The memory of that day almost 80 years ago brought a soft smile as she recalled her wedding.
    [TAB:] "I had a big church wedding. The church was so beautiful with lots of flowers. The four bridesmaids wore a shade of blue and big decorated hats."
    [TAB:] Her husband worked in a store "until we had one of our own," Annie said.
    [TAB:] During her married life, Annie "kept house, like everybody else," assisted by maids who did the cooking and washing.
    [TAB:] The Woods had two sons: Langston Goree Wood, Jr., now deceased, and Sam Madeley Wood of Conroe. She has four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
    [TAB:] Annie enjoyed traveling around the state in her youth.
    [TAB:] "I've watched it grow up some -- I've enjoyed the growing up of Texas."
