Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 12:30 PM at Grace Episcopal Church with The Reverend Robert Wisnewski, The Reverend Jim Walter and The Reverend Evan Garner officiating. Survivors include his wife, Sallie Wood Millsap; two sons, Eugene Temple Millsap, III (Susu) of Montgomery and Mark Wood Millsap (Mary) of Little Rock, AR and 7 grandchildren; Eugene Temple Millsap, IV of Birmingham; Kenneth Henson Millsap of Atlanta; Elizabeth Watkins Millsap of Little Rock; William Gray Millsap of Little Rock, Carlton Henson Millsap of Montgomery; George Wood Millsap of Little Rock and Mark Allen Millsap of Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be D.W. Moody, III, Allyn Thames, Holman Head, Arthur Hester and James Fuller. Gene was born in 1923 in Monroeville, AL to the late Judge Eugene Temple Millsap and the late Kitty Sue Hixon Millsap. He graduated from Monroe County High School in 1941 and entered the Auburn School of Architecture. In 1942, he volunteered for the Field Artillery where, as a sergeant in the 35th Division, he fought in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to Auburn in 1946, where he was President of the ATO Fraternity, President of the Interfraternity Council, member of Spades and ODK. He graduated in 1949 from Auburn with a degree in Architecture. In 1949, Gene began his career at Sherlock, Smith and Adams, Inc. where he later became President for 20 years, retiring in 1984. During his career, he designed many hospital and medical facilities around the world. He was married to the former Sallie Watkins Wood of Montgomery in 1954 and they have been long-standing members of St. John's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts should be directed to the St. John's Episcopal Church Building Fund. His family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Baptist Medical Center for their caring service.
