  • According to the court minutes of Johnston County, North Carolina, John Eason was "of proper age to choose his Guardian" in May 1780 (he chose Solomon Wood, bonded by Gedeon Allen and John Watson), and first mention is made in the November 1781 minutes of John Eason being appointed to serve as a juror at the next court. His approximate birthdate is based upon these entries.
  • On 2 March 1794, Sarah Bentley prepared a will, summarized as follows: (Johnston County, North Carolina) Eldest daughter Elizabeth Wood - Coat and 20 Sh; Daughter Mary Allen - Coat and 20 Sh; Grandson Ashley Wood - 1 gold ring and 1 note due me for $71 1/2 dollars, dated 30 Oct. 1790; Son John Eason - Negroes Sal, Mine, Amy, Tim & Letty. Eason, Thomas Eason, Temperance Eason, Sally Eason, Harriet Eason and Mary Eason were listed as heirs. Executors were Harry Bryan and James Vinson, witnesses Neill Bunn and James Dupree. It is an educated guess that this is the will of William and Sarah Eason's son John. Children recorded are based upon the contents of this will.
