  • Emma E. Wagner was born in January 1881 in Swormville, Erie County, New York.
  • She married John Wesley Bush, son of John Bush and Mary (?), on 6 November 1901, and Emma's sister Elizabeth married John Wesley's brother Emanuel.
  • The following appeared on 3 August 1928 in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: (Wendelville) The third annual Wagner reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shipston, of Youngstown, last Sunday. Dinner and supper were served on tables on the lawn.
         After dinner the business meeting was held. It was opened by a song, "America," followed by prayer. Then came roll call showing fifty-six present. During the year there were two marriages, one birth and one death.
         The oldest member was Mrs. Lena Wagner, of Bear Ridge, and the youngest member, Jack D. Crow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Crow, of Youngstown.
         The following officers were re-elected: Philip Wagner, president; Martin Wagner, vice president; Mrs. Frank Phillips, secretary; Jacob Wagner, treasurer; Miss Edna Cutler, historian.
         The afternoon was spent in playing games, prizes going to the winners. Next year the reunion will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Graff, of Wendelsville. . . . Mrs. Lena Wagner, of Bear Ridge, is spending a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Edward Shipston, of Youngtown.

  • The following appeared on 28 July 1933 in The Evening News: (Wendelville) The eighth annual reunion of the Adam Wagner family will be held Sunday, July 30, in the Getzville Fire hall. Mrs. Carrie Cutler and Mrs. Wesley Bush will be hostesses.
  • The following appeared on 29 November 1935 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: (Buffalo, Nov. 29) Mrs. Lena Wagner, 89 years old, widow of Adam Wagner, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carie Cutler, Campbell boulevard, town of Amherst. She was born in Germany, but had spent most of her life in the town of Pendleton. She was a member of St. Paul's church, Wendelville.
         Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Cutler of Amherst, Mrs. Emanuel Bush of Pendleton, Mrs. Edmund Shipston of Youngstown and Mrs. John W. Bush of North Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 o'clock at St. Paul's church. Burial will be in Bear Ridge cemetery.

  • The following appeared on 9 October 1943 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: (North Tonawanda) J. Wesley Bush, 65, chairman of the Niagara County Board of Supervisors, died this morning at 3:15 o'clock at his home, 195 Lincoln avenue, from a heart attack. Mr. Bush was a leading Republican in this city and had served the past 20 years as a member of the Board of Supervisors. He had held the office of chairman for the past three years.
         Mr. Bush was born in the Shawnee road, town of Wheatfield, and took up his residence in this city when a young man. He had lived here ever since. For the past 40 years he had been prominently identified with the retail milk business in the Tonawandas. He was instrumental in forming the Twin City Dairy company and was its president since its organization many years ago.
          Mr. Bush's death came as a shock to a large circle of friends and relatives throughout western New York. He had been ill only a short time.
          Mr. Bush is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Bush, a son, Donald Bush, and two brothers, Charles T. Bush, all of this city, and Emanual Bush, of Pendleton.
          Mr. Bush was a member of North Tonawanda Lodge, No. 860, B.P.O. Elks, and of Electric City Lodge, No. 663,I.O.O.F.
          The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Wattengel funeral home, 307 Oliver street. The Rev. Joe B. Maffett will officiate. Interment will be in Acacia Park cemetery.
  • The following appeared on 1 November 1943 in The News: (Lockport) The estate of John Wesley Bush, North Tonawanda, milk dealer and former chairman of the Board of Supervisors, was listed nominally at $10,000 and upwards personal property and $7,500 real estate in a petition for letters of administration filed at the surrogate's office here by his son, Donald A. Bush, 189 Lincoln avenue, North Tonawanda.
         Supervisor Bush died Oct. 9, leaving his son and his wife, Emma E. Bush, 195 Lincoln avenue, North Tonawanda, as distributees.
  • The following appeared on 30 October 1944 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: (Youngstown) Mrs. Eva M. Shipston, 66, wife of Edmund Shipston, died late Saturday at the family home, Chestnut street, after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. David Henry Weeks will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, Niagara Falls.
         Mrs. Shipston was born at Wendelville, N. Y., a daughter of the late Jacob and Lena Wagner. With her family she moved to this village from Niagara Falls 23 years ago and had resided here ever since. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal church, the guild and other church organizations. She was a past noble grand of Youngstown Rebekah Lodge No. 459.
         Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Howard T. Shipston, of this village; two daughters, Mrs. George Donohue, of Youngstown, and Mrs. Douglas Crow, of Niagara Falls, and three sisters, Mrs. Nathan Culter, of Gettsville, N. Y; Mrs. Emanuel Bush, of Pendleton, N. Y., and Mrs. John W. Bush, of North Tonawanda.

  • The following appeared on 13 February 1947 in The News: Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Bush announce the marriage of Mrs. Emma E. Bush to Mr. Edmund Shipston of Youngstown, N. Y. The wedding took place yesterday at 5 p. m. in the Bush home, 189 Lincoln avenue. The Rev. G. L. Burghard, pastor of the North Tonawanda Church of Christ, officiated in the presence of the bride's son and daughter-in-law, who were attendants.
         Mr. Shipston is engaged in business in Youngstown where he is president of the Shipston Sales Company. Mr. and Mrs. Shipston will make their home in Youngstown.
  • The following appeared on 20 November 1950 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: A member of the Niagara County Board of Supervisors for the last six years, Donald A. Bush, 44, of 189 Lincoln avenue, North Tonawanda, died early yesterday at his home of a heart attack.
         Manager of the Twin City dairy, Mr. Bush was first appointed to the Board of Supervisors in 1944 to fill the unexpired term of his father, John Wesley Bush. The latter was formerly a co-owner of the dairy which his son managed.
         Mr. Bush was born in North Tonawanda and educated in schools in that city. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Lodge 246 of Free and Accepted Masons and the Elks. His last important act as supervisor was to recommend a branch office of the Niagara county clerk's office in North Tonawanda.
         In addition to his wife, Phyllis Rowe Bush, Mr. Bush is survivd by his son, John W., and his mother, Mrs. Edmond Shipston.
         Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral home, 307 Oliver street, with the Rev. G. L. Burghard, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in Acacia Park cemetery.

  • The following appeared on 7 March 1965 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: (North Tonawanda) Edmund Shipston, 89, of 195 Lincoln St., who operated a general store in Youngstown for more than 50 years, died unexpectedly Saturday (March 6, 1965) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
         A resident here for the last 18 years, he had continued active as a merchant until recent years, when his son, Howard, assumed the operation.
         Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Emma Shipston; a son, Howard T. Shipston, Youngstown; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Crow, Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Eva Mae Dansberry, Ft. George Meade, Md; two brothers, Fred Shipton, Niagara Falls, and George Shipston, Somerville, N.J; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
         Friends may call at the Wattengel Funeral home here, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. M. F. Daningburg officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

         Born in Swormsville, she lived in this city the last 64 years and was a member of the Payne Avenue Christian Church.
         Her husband, Edmund, died in 1965.
         She is survived by a grandson, John W. Bush of Elyria, Ohio, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Phyllis Bush Cartwright of Kenmore and several nieces and nephews.
         Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Roth Funeral home, the Rev. Lyle V. Newman, officiating. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.

         A native of Swormsville, N. Y., she had been a resident of North Tonawanda for the past 64 years. She was a member of Payne Avenue Christian Church. She was the wife of J. Wesley Bush who died in 1943 and Edmund Shipston who died in 1965. She was the mother of Donald A. Bush who died in 1950. Survivors include a grandons, John W. Bush of Elyria, Ohio, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Phyllis Bush Cartwright of Kenmore. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
         Friends may call at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William Streets, Tonawanda, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Lyle V. Newman. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
