  • The following appeared on 21 March 1963 in The Putnam County Courier: Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Lips, wife of Carl H. Lips of Secor road, Mahopac, died Friday, March 15, 1963 in the Peekskill hospital where she had been a patient four days. Her age was 78.
         The deceased was born in Zweibrucken, Germany, June 9, 1884, a daughter of Johannes F. and Jeanette Vruinier Meyjes. She attended high school in Germany and was graduated from Teachers College, Columbia university in New York majoring in three languages.
         She had resided in the Mahopac area for 16 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Mahopac Falls, the Lake Mahopac Garden Club and the Luther Burbank Garden club of Yonkers.
         Surviving are her husband and three children, two sons, Hermann of Ossining and Heinz A., of Wilmington, Del. and one daughter, Mrs. Marie Sykes of Oswego. She also leaves a sister, Miss Marie Meyjes of Newark, Del. and a brother, Heinrich Meyjes of Calverston, L.I. and 15 grandchildren.
         Funeral services in charge of the Cargain Funeral Home in Carmel were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock in the First Presbyterian church at Mahopac Falls and were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Charles Schaum. Interment was made in the Ballard-Barrett cemetery at Mahopac Falls.
