  • Albert P. Schutt was born circa 8 June 1874 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
  • The following appeared on 1 March 1888 in the Cleveland Plain Dealer: In the police court Wednesday morning Acting Judge Schwan committed Albert Schutt, aged 14, to the reform farm at Lancaster. The lad was arraigned in court on a charge of petit larceny. Testimony showed a peculiar state of affairs surrounding Albert's home life. His father, a shoemaker, obtained a divorce from his first wife, Alabert's mother. Mr. Schutt then remarried. So also did Albert's mother. According to the boy's story his stepmother has made home unpleasant for him, although his father has always treated him kindly. Albert sometimes went to his mother's home, in order to enjoy respite from his stepmother's unkindness, and at various times he has left home, remained away from school and otherwise conducted himself as an incorrigible boy. Both the lad's father and mother were in court Wednesday morning. Mr. Schutt wanted his boy cared for. The lad's mother said she was unable to give Albert a home, and when the unfortunate lad was questioned concerning his future welfare, he sobbingly said that he would just as soon as not be sent to Lancaster. And there he will go.
