- The following appeared on 22 July 1981 in The State: (Fairfax) Mrs. Ruth Haigler Lightsey, 91, died Tuesday at Lowman Home. Born in Orangeburg County, she was a daughter of the late James and Madeline Spigner Haigler. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Allendale, Sycamore and Fairfax for many years. Mrs. Lightsey was a graduate of Marion Junior College and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Fairfax. She was a former member of the S. C. Education Association and the National Educational Association. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Frances) Rice of West Columbia; two sons, Judson H. Lightsey of Deland, Fla, and William Marion Lightsey of Arlington, VA., a sister, Mrs. Janie Bozardt of Columbia, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The family suggests that those who with may make memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lowman Home. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge.
