  • Meta Pingel was born on 15 February 1893 in Rhine, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.
  • Henry C. Pingel and Johanna Hartmann appeared in the US federal census of 1 January 1920 in Rhine Township, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Other members of the household included Meta Pingel, Philip Pingel, Nelda Pingel and Ernst Fred Dexheimer.
  • The following appeared in in a local newspaper: Friends and neighbors were shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. E. [Nelda] Dexheimer, who died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Pingel, Saturday morning, at the age of 28 years. A short, but severe illness of only 5 days duration preceded her death. At her side mourn her husband and two children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pingel; two sisters; and one brother, Philip. She was born in the town of Rhine, June 3, 1896. There she grew up and was married to Ernst Dexheimer, Aug. 14, 1918. Two children were born to them; Henry, age 5, and Marzella, age 3. She was a devoted wife and lovable mother. Her death is a great loss to all who knew her. The funeral was held at the home of H. Pingel on Tuesday at 1:30 p. m., followed the burial in the Rockville cemetery. Six members of Kasper Post American Legion acted as pallbearers.
  • The following appeared on 12 February 1925 in The Sheboygan Press: Kiel--Members of the Kiel post of the American Legion were pallbearers at the funeral of Mrs. Enrst Dexheimer, which was held Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Dexheimer's death Saturday morning was a shock to friends and neighbors, as she had been ill only five days. /P/ Mrs. Nelda Pingel Dexheimer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pingel. She was born in the town of Rhine on June 3, 1896, and she grew to young womanhood there. On August 14, 1918, she was married to Ernst Dexheimer, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dexheimer of Sheboygan. The went to live on the Pingel farm, where she died. She was an ambitious and devoted wife and mother, loved and respected by those who knew her. /P/ Mrs. Dexheimer is survived by her grief-stricken husband, two children, Henry, 5, and Marcella, 3, her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Peter Nauth and Miss Meta Pingel, and a brother, Phillip. /P/ Mr. Dexheimer, husband of the deceased, is a member of the Kiel post of the American Legion, which furnished the pallbearers. Interment was made in the Rockville cemetery. Arvin Dexheimer of Detroit, Mich., attended the funeral.

  • The following appeared in a local newspaper: Mrs. Meta Dexheimmer [sic], 82, of the Town of Rhine, widow of Ernest, died Saturday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for four weeks. The former Meta Pingel was born February 15, 1893 in the Town of Rhine, a daughter of the late Henry and Johanna Hartmann Pingel. She attended the Millhome School. /P/ On August 23, 1927 she was married to Mr. Dexheimmer at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Town of Rhine. /P/ The couple located on the Pingel homestead farm in Town of Rhine. /P/ After her husbands death March 4, 1974, Mrs. Dexheimmer resided with a son-in-law and daughter. /P/ She was a member of the St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. /P/ Survivors include a daughter, a son, five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. /P/ Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, the Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, officiated, Burial was in the Schleswig Cemetery, Rockville.
