  • The following appeared on 1 July 1922 in a local newspaper: Michael Nauth, one of the well-known former residents of the town of Rhine, Sheboygan county, passed to his reward on Saturday morning, at his home in Elkhart Lake, after a lingering illness of several years with cancer of the stomach. Decedent was born December 4, 1856, in the town of Rhine, where he grew to manhood. He was married in 1882 to Mary Kissinger, and the couple settled on a farm in that town, where they resided until 1907, when they disposed of the place and moved to Elkhart Lake to live in retirement. Mr. Nauth is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Julius Kestell of Elkhart Lake, Anna and Ella at home. Also two brothers, Geo. Nauth of Kiel and Daniel Nauth of Kansas City, Mo., and two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Hecker of Plymouth and Mrs. Carl Schueler of Elkhart Lake. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from the home, Rev. Zeh of the Ev. church officiating. Interment in the cemetery, one mile east of Elkhart Lake.

  • The following appeared on 27 May 1953 in the Sheboygan Press: Mrs. Julius (Martha) Kestell, 66, died suddenly at her home in Elkhart Lake Tuesday forenoon. She was born in the Town of Rhine, Nov. 7, 1886, the daughter of Michael and Mary Nauth. She married Julius Kestell Oct. 27, 1914 at Elkhart Lake. The couple resided there since the marriage. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Wallace, Elkhart Lake; and Leland of Green Bay; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jeanette) Kurtz, and Miss Joan Kestell, both of Milwaukee; two sisters, Miss Anna Nauth, and Miss Ella Nauth, both of Elkhart Lake; and three grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death.
         Funeral services will be held at the Raeder Funeral Home, Elkhart Lake. The Rev. Paul A. Olm will officiate. Burial will be in Elkhart Lake cemetery.
