  • The following appeared on 17 September 2008 in the Hendersonville Times-News: Marion Marie Witt, 89, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Park Ridge Hospital after a short period of declining health. /P/ A native of Morris Township, Tioga County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Preston Albert Bohnert and Alma Jane Emmerick Bohnert. She was the wife of the late Paul Atkinson Witt of Fletcher and was a graduate of the Washington Missionary College, now Columbia Union College School of Nursing. She and Paul owned and operated the Witt Nursing Home in Morris, Pa., for nearly 20 years. In 1970, they moved to Hendersonville and she continued nursing at Fletcher Hospital, now Park Ridge Hospital. /P/ She was a loving wife and mother, and a wonderful friend to many. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Flat Rock. In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her son, David Lester Witt, three brothers and three sisters. /P/ She is survived by three children, Anna Paulette Love and her husband, George, of Hendersonville; Maurice Preston Witt and his wife, Nancy, of Macon, Ga; Paul Michael Witt Sr. and his wife, Rebecca, of Hendersonville; a brother, Harold Bohnert and his wife, Dorothy, of Covington, Ky; one sister, Beverly Shattuck of Norwich, N.Y; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. /P/ A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Upward Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Ralph Hollenbeck officiating.
