  • The following appeared on 18 February 1913 in The Attica News: Carl Frederick Geise, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Giese, who resided three miles west of the village in the town of Bennington, died Monday night at 9:45 o'clock, at the age of 15, years. The cause of death was brain fever, following an attack of grippe. His final sickness however, dates from a severe attack of pneumonia which he had last fall and from which he never fully recovered. At the last he was confined to the bed about ten days.
         Carl was the youngest in a family of ten children and was born on December 24th, 1897. His passing is the first break in the family circle and his untilely death is a great grief to the members of the family. The brothers and sisters are Willialm and Haney Geise and Mrs. Samuel Bey of Attica; George, Lena, Katherine, Anna, Leo and Anthony jr., of Bennington. Three of the family, George, Anthony, jr., and Miss Lena Geise were in Los Angeles, Calif., at the time of Carl's death, but are not homeward bound and expect to arrive here on Sunday. In the event of their arrival at athat ime, the funeral will be held on Monday morning at 10:30 a. m. from St. Vincent's church, of which the deceased was a communicant, and the interment will take place in the Exchange street cemetery.
