Their daughter, Mary Ann MacVittie, who accompanied them here, is remaining with her grandparents for a week.

  • The following appeared on 27 February 1957 in The Niagara Falls Gazette: Mrs. Alice E. McVittie, 71, of 626 Sixth St., died yesterday (Feb. 26, 1957) at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after a two months' illness.
         Mrs. McVittie was born in this city. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and its Women's Assn.
         Surviving are two sons, Russell L. McVittie, Marietta, Ohio, and Arthur R. McVittie, Glen Farris, W. V; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
         Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Gridley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles C. Berryhill officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
         The family said that donations to the American Cancer Society will be acceptable as tributes.
  • The following appeared on 7 March 1957 in The Niagara Falls Gazette: Alice E. McVittie, who died Feb. 26, left $500 to a cousin, Laura Ammerman, 2259 Pierce Ave., and $500 to a daughter-in-law, Bernice McVittie, Seattle, Wash.
         The rest of the estate was left as follows: 40 per cent to Russell L. MacVittie, Marietta, Ohio, a son; 40 per cent to Arthur R. MacVittie, Glen Ferris, W. Va., a son; 10 per cent to a grandson, Donald R. McVittie, Seattle, Wash; and 10 per cent to a granddaughter, Barbara McVittie Feldt, Saline, Mich.
         The sons were named executors.
