  • The following appeared on 20 October 1927 in the Pope County Tribune: A pretty wedding took place Saturday afternoon, October 15, at 3:30 p.m. when Ione Higgins Nordstrom of Nebiah and William J. Peterson of Starbuck were united in marriage by Dr. Stout at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Higgins. The bride wore a becoming gown of rose beige georgette with a corsage boquet of roses and lilies of the vlley. Olivia Peterson, a sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and wore a corsage of roses. The groom was attended by Horace Higgins, a brother of the bride. [:CR;]      Little Betty Higgins, dressed in blue, carried a colonial boquet and was flower girl and Richard Dietel was ring bearer. Miss Astrid Flack of Starbuck played Lohengren's wedding march. Miss Flack played softly during the ceremony. As a recessional she played Mendelsohn's march. Before the ceremony, Miss Magna Peterson, a sister of the groom, accompanied by Miss Flack, sang "Oh Promise Me." [:CR;]      After the ceremony a three course wedding dinner was served the guests, numbering about twenty-five. A beautiful wedding cake, a gift from our local bakeryman, Mr. Arthur Lundeen and wife, to the groom before he left for the wedding, graced the table. [:CR;]      The rooms were tasatefully decorated in pink and white streamers, autumn leaves, gladioli and crysanthemums. [:CR;]      The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Higgins of Nebiah. For a number of years she taught school here. Her pleasing personality has won her many friends. The groom is the son of Aage Peterson, our beloved pioneer merchant of Starbuck. [:CR;]      For several years the groom together with his brother Harold have had charge of the Aage Peterson store and following and carrying out the splendid principals of their father in their business. He is a splendid young man and his jovial manner together with his courteous and accommodating ways have won him a host of friends. [:CR;]      Mr. and Mrs. Peterson will spend a week in the northern part of the state, after which they will make their home in Starbuck. Their many friends extend congratulations and best wishes. Those who attended the wedding from here are: Magna Peterson, Astrid Flack, Alfred Nordstrom and Bertha and Olivia Peterson of Minneapolis.
