         Elvin Steen was born in DeWitt County on February 11, 1920 to Jim and Della Steen. He was the fourth child of five children: Mildred Steen, Doris Steen Brown, Sylvia Jerline Steen-Neal, and brother R. A. Steen; his half sisters, Minnie Lee James and Fannie Mae Mollett (all have preceded him in death).
         He professed a hope in Christ on Easter Sunday in 1932 and later became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Houston.
         Elvin Steen helped take care of his family after his father passed away and started a Taxi service in Cuero at age 25. He moved to Houston, working for himself starting a Body and Welding business which later turned into Steen's Truck Service.
         He leaves to mourn his passing a host of relatives, friends, and extended families. We will forever cherish the memory of his love. Thank you for the many comforting messages, prayers and expression of kindness.
         His last biblical phrase spoken while in Hermann Hospital was, "My help and strength cometh from the Lord."
         Funeral services were Monday, June 16. Arrangements were by Miller Funeral Services, Houston, 713-981-1184.
