  • The following appeared on 24 September 1890 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: The funeral of the late John C. Mayle took place from the residence of his parents, No. 313 Third street, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. George F. Rosenmoller, rector of St. Peter's Church. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, most noticeable among them being a handsome fire-hydrant, from the members of the Mayle Hose Company. The bearers were selected from this Company. The Cataract, Niagara and Mayle Hose Companies marched in the funeral procession, which was very large. The interment was made in the family plot in Oakwood.
  • The following appeared on 6 September 1891 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Mrs. Ellen F. Mayle, relict of the late John C. Mayle, died at Pletcher's Corners Sunday morning, aged a little over 85 years. She was born in Strasburg, Germany, and with her husband, came to America in 1850, and in 1856 settled at Pletcher's Corners. She leaves two sons, Louis F. Mayle of Niagara Falls and John C. Mayle, and three daughters, Mrs. L. Miller of Chicago, Mrs. C. Wagner of Buffalo, and Sophia Mayle of Pletcher's Corners. The funeral was observed Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. J. H. Asbeck officiating.

  • The following appeared on 1 October 1907 in The Buffalo Courier: (Niagara Falls, Sept. 30) Louis F. Mayle, one of the leading German citizens of this city and a brewer whose reputation was known throughout the country, died at his home, No. 749 Third Street at 7 o'clock this morning aged 64 years. Mr. Mayle had been ailing for about a month. Death was due to heart disease. The funeral will be on Wednesday morning, interment in Oakwood cemetery. [:CR;]      Besides his widow he is survived by ten children.
  • The following appeared on 2 October 1907 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: The funeral of Louis F. Mayle, whose death occurred on Monday morning, was held at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the family residence, No. 748 Third street. While there have been larger
    funerals in this city, there have been few others marked by so sympathetic and appreciative a spirit.
         There were beautiful floral tokens from firends in many of the larger cities, with whom the deceased had had business relations, and others from former employes. The flowers from the employes of the Cataract Consumers and the Niagara Falls Brewing Companies were particularly beautiful, as were thos from the Exempt Firemen and other fraternal and social organizations with which Mr. Mayle was identified.
         The bearers were: James J. Mahoney, Louis Zeiger, Henry G. Ochs, Herman C. Fuchs, James F. Murphy, and Daniel W. Schwartz. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
