Y., Oct. 8) The death of Robert Craig occurred at the family home in Warden street this morning, after an illness of two years. Mr. Craig was one of the substantial and best known citizens of the community. He was born in Ballymore, Ireland, eighty years ago, and came to this village when a young man. He was an efficient mason and the stone spire and other masonry of St. Thomas Episcopal church stands as a monument to his efficiency. He leaves his wife with these children: Thomas, of Mt. Morris; Charles, of Chicago; Edward, of New Castle, Pa; Mrs. Oscar Rowley, of Buffalo; Mrs. Charles Johnson, of Corning; William, James and Miss Irene, of this village. He also leaves a brother, Thomas, of Bath, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Milward, of Philadelphia, and Miss Elizabeth Craig, of this village. The funeral will be held at his late home, Monday afternoon, Rev. Charles M. Goss, rector of St. Thomas Episcopal church, officiating.

[:CR;]      The will of the late Mrs. Maria Craig, of Bath, names her husband, Thomas Craig, and two daughters by her former marriage, Mary Jacobus of Wayne, and Anna Moritz of Wilmington, Del., as executors; the will disposes of an estate of $9,000 realty, and $4,000 personalty; by the will, two-thirds is given outright equally to the daughters, the other third being for life use of Mr. Craig; at his death, any balance remaining from his portion is directed for equal division between the two daughters.

Charles Edwin Purdy, rector of St. Thomas Episcopal church of which Mr. Craig was a member, will officiate. Steuben Lodge, F. and A. M., of which Mr. Craig was a past worshipful master, will officiate at the commitment, which will be in the family plot in Grove cemetery.
  • The following appeared on 12 September 1914 in The Plaindealer: Thomas Craig died at his home, on East William street, Wednesday afternoon, following a few hours illness, from acute indigestion. Mr. Craig was born in Ballymote, County of Sligo, Ireland, 74 years ago. He came to this village when a young man and has plied his trade, a shoemaker, ever since. He was twice married, first to Sarah Faucett, and his second was Mrs. Maria Sutherland. He is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs. Harry Hyer of Buffalo, and a sister, Miss Elizabeth Craig of this village. Mr. Craig was an old member of the local Masonic lodge and his funeral will be held under their auspicies at St. Thomas' church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30.
