Mrs. Brass was a most estimable woman and will be sadly missed. The funeral was observed from the Church of the Sacred Heart at 10 o'clock this morning.

  • The following appeared on 25 November 1933 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Charles F. Braas, 70 years old, retired contractor, who had been closely connected with business and civic affairs in this city for almost half a century, died last night at his home, 1324 South avenue, following an illness of ten days. The funeral will be held from the family home at 8:30 a. m. Monday, with ervices at Sacred Heart church at 9 a. m. Burial will be in Riverdale cemetery.
         Mr. Braas was born in Boston, N. Y. He came to Niagara Falls about 45 years ago and had lived here ever since. For many years he was associated with his brothers, the late Nicholas and Michael Braas, in the general contracting firm of Braas Bros., of which he was president. He retired from business about two years ago. At one time he served as a member of the board of aldermen under the old form of city government. He was always intensely interested in the affairs of the community and was widely known and esteemed.
         Mr. Braas is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Rieger Braas; one daughter, Mrs. Winifred Braas Dolan; two sisters, Miss Lucy Braas of this city, and Mrs. Ida Mason, of Buffalo; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
  • The following appeared on 21 August 1935 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: In ill health for several months, Mrs. Anna Bra[a]s, 74 years old, widow of Charles F. Braas, former prominent building contractor, died late yesterday at her summer home in the Lake road, near Wilson.
         Born in the town of Niagara, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reiger [sic], Mrs. Braas spent almost her entire life in Niagara Falls and was one of the best known residents of the north end of the city.
         Of genial disposition, Mrs. Braas had gained a wide circle of friends during her long residence here. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart church and had formerly taken an active part in its affairs.
         She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Francis Dolan, of this city, a sister, Mrs. Francis Reiger, of Lockport, and a brotherm, Herman M. Reiger, of East Orange, N. J. Three grandchildren also survive.
         Funeral services will be held from the Braas home, 1324 South Avenue, Friday at 8:30 o'clock, and at 9 o'clock from Sacred Heart church. Interment will be in the family plot in Riverdale cemetery.
