Miller of the Richmond Avenue Church of Christ. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Oliver, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson of this city.
  • The following appeared on 13 September 1912 in The Buffalo Express: The home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Leavens of Hoyt street was the scene of a pretty wedding yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, when their daughter, Maisie F., was married to Mr. Harold Wilson Brauer by the Reverend Raphael RR. Miller of the Richmond Avenue Church of Christ. Palms, gladioli and asters adorned the house, the color theme being pink and white. A large mound of the flowers centered the bride's table of twelve covers. Mrs. Edward Willett played the wedding march and the bride, who entered with her father, wore white voile with lace and pearls and a wreath of lilies of the valley. Miss Agnes Lauderdale, the maid of honor, wore yellow satin and carried yellow roese. Miss Nellie Hangert, as bridesmaid, was gowned in white marquisette and carried pink roses. Little Miss Natalie Gary, in a blue and white frock, carried the ring in a basket of pink roses. Mr. Roy Stevens was best man and Mr. Craig Brauer groomsman. Mrs. Leavens wore lavender silk. Among the guests were Mr. Robert Temple, Mrs. William Temple, the Misses Florence and Margaret Temple of Canada, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson of Niagara Falls; Mrs. and Mrs. ??? of Newark, N. J. Mr. and Mrs. Brauer have left for a western trip and after October 1st will be at home at No. 265 Hoyt street.

  • The following appeared on 24 May 1925 in the Buffalo Courier: Charles H. Leavens, sixty-one years old, former head of the Leavens Baking Co., ended his life yesterday by cutting his throat with a razor in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Baruer, No. 144 Palmer avenue, Kenmore. Medical Examiner Earl G. Danser, who issued a certificate of suicide, said the man had been suffering from melancholia.
         Mrs. Brauer's eight-year-old son, Harry, found his grandfather dead in the cellar. He called his mother. Leavens had been dead only a short time when the woman reached his side.
         Mr. Leavens is survived by his widow and only daughter, Mrs. Brauer. Until a few days ago the former bakery head and his wife had been living at a local hotel, taking up residence with Mrs. Brauer prior to moving back to their home on Hoyt street.
  • The following appeared on 9 June 1925 in The Buffalo Morning Express: Mrs. Jennie Leavens, widow of the late Charles H. Leavens, will receive an annual income of not less than $3,600 from his estate, according to the terms of his will, filed yesterday. Mrs. Maizie Brauer, daughter, is given the home at No. 144 Palmer avenue, Kenmore. Among the other bequests is one of $500 to the Richmond Avenue Methodist Episcopal church.
         The estate of Leavens, who recently killed himself in the home of his daughter, is estimated at $60,000.

Wilson Brauer, sister of Robert H., Wallace and Herbert L. Temple. Funeral from the home of her daughter, 31 Lincoln boulevard, Kenmore, N. Y., Friday afternoon, May 27, at 2:30. Interment at Elmlawn cemetery.
